Network Engineer (Arlington)

*3-month contract to hire*Job SummaryThe Network Engineer Level 2 will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures. The engineer will collaborate with IT teams to ensure network reliability, implement upgrades, and provide technical support for escalated issues.Essential Job FunctionsMaintain computer networks including routers, switches, VPNs and other physical hardware/softwareMonitor systems to improve network performance for all systemsTroubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and managementResearch, install, configure and upgrade network hardware and softwareCreate firewall rules and update software and data security systems to keep data and communications protectedImplement disaster recovery proceduresProvide on-site support for projects that require on-site installation and supportDesign and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networksUpdate network equipment to the latest firmware releasesMinimum Required Qualifications2-4 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, technical support, or similar roles, with demonstrable expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Comprehensive understanding of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, routing, switching, and network security.Experience with enterprise-grade networking hardware and software, such as Cisco, Juniper, HP, or similar platforms, including configuration, maintenance, and firmware updates.Proven ability to use network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios) for performance analysis, fault detection, and incident resolution.Relevant certifications strongly preferred, such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent industry credentials.
