Security Engineer - Foundation - SF & NYC
What our client is looking forOur start-up client is looking for an engineer with security experience. You should be comfortable being the directly responsible individual for our security posture, handling extremely sensitive customer data with zero tolerance for mistakes. You have a track record of drafting, implementing, and enforcing security best practices across an entire engineering organization.What you'll do:Own security end-to-end, from policy and implementation to enforcement across the company.Lock down sensitive customer data, ensuring it's encrypted, access-controlled, audited, and protected at every layer.Draft and enforce the playbook for how Pylon handles data, credentials, access, and incident response.Partner closely with infrastructure engineers to bake security into our systems from the ground up.Build a strong security culture through training, code reviews, and threat modeling, making security a part of every engineer's daily work.Requirements:Seniority1 - 4 years of experience as a SWE focused on securityWork experience (Please do not apply if you don't have the experience)Experience at a large, mature (Series C+) company handling large amounts of sensitive data (e.g., financial/fintech, healthcare, government, SaaS)EducationCS degree from top-30 program Hard skills Holistic understanding of security (e.g., penetration testing, hardening, vulnerability management, system security). Doesn't need to be an expert in any field (Must Have)Familiarity with security technologies: SAML, SSH, intrusion protection systems, penetration testing tools, and system hardening frameworks (CIS, Linux hardening)AWS security knowledge (security groups, networking, egress/ingress)Tech stackAWS (IAM, security tooling, network architecture), TypeScript, SQL (PostgreSQL), GraphQL, Temporal.ioSoft skillsSide projects, community involvement, or demonstrated passion for security engineering and technology in general.Salary: $140K - $220K Equity: Competitive EquityVisa sponsorship not available (Please do not apply if you don't have work visa including, H1B, GC or USC)Hybrid work policyThis is a hybrid role, with the expectation of working 3-4 days/week from one of our client's offices in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY.
