Van Driver

Van DriverThe Van Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school, athletic events, and special education placements. The driver must maintain a safe environment on the vehicle and ensure compliance with all state and federal traffic laws and District policies. Operate a District-owned van to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to special excursions. Adhere to all New Hampshire Rules of the Road and Department of Safety regulations. Ensure students remain seated and follow safety protocols while the vehicle is in motion. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, lights, fuel, oil, and brakes). Report any mechanical defects to the Transportation Coordinator immediately. Maintain order and discipline among students. Report any significant behavioral incidents to the building Principal or Transportation Coordinator. Follow established procedures in the case of a breakdown, accident, or medical emergency. Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle. Maintain accurate mileage logs, student attendance counts, and fuel receipts as required by the District. Ability to climb in and out of the vehicle and assist students with boarding or exiting if necessary (including operating wheelchair lifts/tie-downs if assigned to a specialized van).
