Creative Services - Exhibit Display

Position Purpose: The San Diego County Fair is seeking enthusiastic candidates who will assist with the creation of exhibits, creative props and decorations for a variety of Fair program areas i.e. Theme Exhibit, Fine and Home Arts, Culinary, Garden, Floral & the Farm. Main tasks include but are not limited to assisting in crafting or painting creative projects and the creation of exhibits for the annual Fair. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 119 days. Essential Functions: Uses artistic skills to craft and assemble and/ or paint scenery flats and decor. Assist with the creation and preparation of exhibit fixtures, and props. Be proficient in the use of power equipment including drills, etc. May assist in the fabrication of sets or props using recycled or lightweight materials such as foam, lightweight wood, fabric, plastic or cardboard. Possessing excellent problem-solving skills are essential. Able to meet timelines and deadlines and able to manage resources for complex projects. Knowledge and ability to perform paint prep or simple repair tasks for project success. Responsible for the care and safekeeping of tools and equipment and keeping working area clean. Practices good physical work methods, utilizes good work habits, and meets established production standards. Operates a variety of special tools/equipment (i.e. manlift, ladder, scissor lift, and/or electric cart) certification will be provided if needed. Must be enthusiastic and able to handle occasional stressful situations effectively. Wears proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, googles) and always works in a safe work environment. Must be at least 18 years old. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested when needed. Possess a valid driver’s license. Excellent teamwork skills necessary Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs Ability to lift or move objects up to 30 lbs. safely necessary. Preferences: Knowledge of scenic building, painting, sculpture, art/craft media, décor, exhibit design a plus.
