OverviewLifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. Interested candidates may apply for this position on the program's webpage.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in either a school or church settingA mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithActive participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithJob DescriptionComplete Initial and Ongoing TrainingComplete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course prior to teachingParticipate in the annual LifeWise Summit each yearAttend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per yearStay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise emailTeach LifeWise ClassesUtilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customizationApply LifeWise policies, procedures and resourcesImplement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculumInvest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularlyCultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in naturePrioritize student engagementMaintain RecordsKeep accurate student attendance recordsMaintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slipsPrepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacherMaintain the ClassroomEstablish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote a spiritual growthMaintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroomKnow procedures for dealing with emergency situationsPurchase classroom supplies as neede using funds provided by the program directorCommunicateAct as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the communityAttend events as available or requested by the program directorMaintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-beingBuild relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changesSubmit regular updates, stories and photos to the program directorPromote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefsBenefitsRetirement plan, including employer matchLifeWise Academy's hiring practices and EEO Statement are fully in compliance with both federal and state law.
