Department: ManufacturingLocation: Redondo Beach Compensation: $135,000 - $185,000 / yearDescriptionAs a Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse Space you will develop and manufacture state-of-the-art soft goods and multi-layer insulation (MLI) builds for current & future vehicles. You will work with cross-discipline engineering teams & outside vendors to deliver flight hardware.ResponsibilitiesDevelop manufacturing processes to fabricate parts with MLI’s and spacecraft textile productsOwn process development, build, test, and integration for both flight and development hardwareGenerate soft goods manufacturing standards, work instructions, and process specificationsTooling design for part fabrication, shop aids, and assemblyWork directly with technicians to produce high-quality hardwareWork directly with outside vendorsSpec, purchase, and implement equipment to aid in part fabricationDevelop and implement shop floor layouts to establish new production cellsEngage in development projects to test feasibility of new part designsMinimum QualificationsBachelors’ degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field5+ years of direct hands-on manufacturing experience in a production and/or development environment2+ years of direct hands-on experience with part fabrication utilizing MLI’s and soft goodsProficiency with CAD software and the ability to learn new toolsPreferred Skills and ExperienceMasters' degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field5+ years of direct hands-on experience with part fabrication utilizing MLI’s and soft goods4+ years of demonstrated experience working on soft good for launch vehicles, spacecraft, or satellitesDevelops creative design solutions to complex problemsAbility to work with complex assembliesExperience with Siemens NXExperience in a startup or agile development environmentAbility to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphereAdditional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
