Human Resources Administrator (Temporary)SMS Mill Services, LLC is a leader in the steel mill services industry prioritizing recycling and environmental/worker' safety and handling all operations with integrity. SMS Corporate is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and professional HR Administrator to support daily human resources operations during a short-term assignment. This role will assist with administrative HR functions including onboarding, employee records, hiring support, HR systems, and general employee support in a fast-paced industrial environment.This is a temporary assignment for now; approximately 3 months. The work-week will be approximately 30 hours. There are no benefits associated with this position.SMS provides a comprehensive range of services for steel mill customers. We partner with our customers to design custom, cost-effective solutions, which focus on adding value and achieving goals for the operation and the environment. Our range of services includes, but is not limited scrap yard management, finished or semi-finished product services, melt shop services, logistics/transportation support, and slag processing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist with onboarding and new hire paperworkMaintain employee files and HR records in compliance with company policiesSupport recruiting efforts including scheduling interviews and communicating with candidatesCoordinate pre-employment requirements such as background checks, drug screens, and orientation schedulingPrepare reports, spreadsheets, and HR documents as neededRespond to employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and basic HR mattersMaintain confidentiality of employee and company informationPerform general administrative and clerical duties for the HR departmentAssist with special projects and other duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious administrative or HR experience preferredExperience in manufacturing, industrial, union, or blue-collar environments is a plusStrong organizational and communication skills Ability to handle confidential information professionallyProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environmentHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferredPhysical / Work ConditionsOffice settingSitting for long periods, constant computer work, and phone interactions Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, and management personnelSMS Mill Services, LLC is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
