Mechanical Engineer III - Automotive DivisionDepartment: Engineering (126) CTEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Chester, CTReporting To: Tony GerardoDescriptionSummary:Creates and develops new products as well as supports existing product enhancements for the automotive or aviation division. Candidate will follow the design process starting with concept initiation and follow it through total product assembly and functionality testing. The process will be facilitated by leveraging the understanding of core concepts in Mechanical Engineering. Candidate engages in continuous learning of the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger projectContributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of one or more functional areasFully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from othersConfirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.Confers with Engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical informationResearches and analyzes design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applicationsSupports manufacturing of prototype and pre-production productsPrepares Various Product reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trendsCollaborate with other departments such as Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Electrical Engineering and QA to be able to solve problems related to Engineering issues, manufacturing documentation, and/or bills of materialsScopeDelivers results in accordance with goals and expectationsSatisfies internal and external customer needsAssumes responsibility & takes ownership for resultsWorks well in a Team environmentOpenly communicates about commitmentsShares information readily with team and larger departmentSolves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutionsApplies learning to work and process flowActs as a resource for colleagues with less experienceEducation and ExperienceBS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field w/ 8+ years' experience or MA/MS degree w/5-6+ years' experienceExperience in component design using the following manufacturing techniques a plus: injection molding, die cast molding, machining, vacuum forming and sheet metal fabricatingProficient knowledge of materials and manufacturing processesProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Active user/experience with engineering software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalentExperience with PDM and PLM software and processes is also preferredAll Employees ShallComply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirementsReport to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazardsAttend scheduled EH&S training programActively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plansRecommend improved EH&S practicesMust be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties.
