Head of Power Development

About the Opportunity:A highly innovative infrastructure startup is building a next-generation industrial power network designed to solve one of the largest constraints facing AI, data center, and industrial growth in the United States: access to scalable power.The company is developing HVDC-based macrogrid infrastructure that directly connects generation, storage, and large-scale industrial load through a private transmission and power delivery platform. Their model is focused on dramatically improving “speed-to-power” by reducing interconnection bottlenecks and enabling faster deployment of critical infrastructure projects.Operating at the intersection of energy infrastructure, transmission development, and AI-driven power demand growth, the business is building a first-of-its-kind platform with significant long-term scale potential.Role Responsibilities:Lead HVDC transmission + related power systems project development across major transmission opportunities tied to large-scale data center demand and a wide range of generation technologies.Identify and originate site opportunities based on power and gas availability, development feasibility, routing feasibility, and project economics.Interface with customers and stakeholders; negotiate EPC and procurement contracts and work closely with partner teams.Build the development function from the ground up, owning the full lifecycle initially while quickly scaling the team across procurement, project management, permitting/EHS, construction, and execution Collaborate closely with Commercial, Finance, and Engineering/R&D teams; share customer feedback and learnings.Drive diligence on power availability, permitting, grid interconnection, and delivery and ramp schedulesIdeal Candidate:10-12+ years’ experience developing projects end-to-end throughout the full lifecycle, from origination and diligence through financing, permitting, and commercial operations.Experience within IPPs, infrastructure developers, transmission, digital infrastructure, or large-scale energy platforms strongly preferredDirect experience owning project risk and driving transactions through final close.Hands-on financial modeling expertise within power developmentStrong team leadership capabilitiesComfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment building a new infrastructure category
