Description The Mechanic B Technician performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles, including inspections, diagnosis, and minor and major repairs, with little or no supervision. Assists other mechanics, helps to ensure a work environment that meets safety and regulatory standards for RATPDEV-USA. Technician must attend and participate in meetings and training on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis RequirementsEvidence of a "safety first" attitudeThree (3) years progressive heavy equipment maintenanceMust hold and maintain three ASE Truck or Transit Bus along with 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification and three years of verifiable experience in heavy duty diesel bus or truck.?Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferredMust have computer skills for the ability to repair sub-components of all types of buses.Must have the ability to understand and follow schematics.Intermediate level computer skills (including Microsoft applications)Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretionAbility to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrityDetail-oriented, resourceful, diligent and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner)Able to work in a team environment, cohesively to ensure vehicle safetyStrong time management and organizational skillsSound judgement; Good problem-solving and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non-technical parties)Excellent communication skillsMust be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment.Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirableExperience with diagnostic computer equipment and software requiredMust have the ability to learn the design, maintenance, and adjustments of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires and transmissionsHands on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshootingUse hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments, HVAC recovery equipment, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches and hydraulic presses in addition to computer programs such as Cummins Insite and Allison DOC.Maintains and creates records and work history within electronic repair orders.Inspect / diagnose / repair / replace brake systems, fuel and emission systems, drivelines, steering and suspension systems, passenger heating/cooling systems, etc. to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.Use of in-ground and above-ground hoists as well as portable hoists and hydraulic jacks to raise equipment for inspection and repair.Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and procedures such as changing oil and filters, lubricating steering, suspension and brake components, battery maintenance, compressed natural gas tank inspections, etc.Test drive/operate light duty vehicles, trucks, buses and support equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.Inspect, adjust, repair and replace protective guards, loose components, and specified safety devices.Vehicle chassis alignments.Replace, repair, and perform routine maintenance on internal combustion engines to include gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel in addition to transmissions and differential units.Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, interior and exterior trim and hardware.Install, diagnose and repair/replace vehicle accessories.Emission related diagnosis and repairs.Minor fabrication, welding, grinding, soldering, etc.Performs service calls on vehicles and equipment.Assists in training of lower-level personnelPerforms backfill supervisory duties as requiredPerforms related duties as assigned.Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.Responsible - Ability to be held accountable and answer for one's conduct while maintaining a professional attitude.Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.Diversity Oriented - Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.Honesty / Integrity - Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.Customer driven - Ability to work effectively with both internal and external custom. Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment performance evaluation. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, drug and alcohol screen and background investigation and pre-employment assessments and tests.Must possess or be willing to purchase a complete complement of tools capable of being used to perform the above tasks.High school diploma or GED equivalency.Obtain NC Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement and Airbrakes.Must pass physical examination including drug and alcohol screen, and back evaluation.Must be able to lift or move up to fifty pounds.Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel or crawl.Must be able to do repetitive tasks.Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
