The role includes general anatomic pathology, frozen section analysis, and cytology, with responsibilities for grossing specimens and cutting frozen sections on the cryostat. The practice handles approximately 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens per year. The locum will work alongside other pathologists and support staff, including five histotechnologists, one pathology assistant, and two cytotechnologists. The laboratory holds CLIA and NYS certifications, uses ThinPrep preparation for cytology, and requires proficiency in GYN cytology. Equipment includes a Hologic ThinPrep integrated imager, Avantik QS12UV and QS II cryostats, and Nikon Eclipse E400 and Olympus BX41 microscopes.
