Job Summary Our client a leading Retail & Consumer Goods provider is seeking a Data Governance & Engineering Lead to join their team! This position is located Hybrid in Downers Grove, Illinois. We are seeking a Data Governance & Engineering Lead to join our client! You will work in a hybrid model at our client’s Downers Grove, IL location. The Data Governance Lead will stand up governance (policies, stewardship, definitions), but also play a key technical role working with the Azure data stack, Power BI reporting layers, Oracle data sources, etc.Core Responsibilities Design and implement data governance framework, policies, and processesEstablish the foundational governance operating model, including roles, responsibilities, and stewardship structurePartner with business teams to identify and define enterprise KPIs, metrics, and data definitions to ensure consistency in reporting and analyticsDevelop and maintain a business glossary and metadata repository for shared understanding of key data assetsDefine data quality rules and measurements for core domains such as guest data, transactions, reservations, membership, and financialsImplement data quality dashboards and processes for ongoing monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvementEnsure Compliance and Secure Data UsageDevelop and enforce policies around data privacy, classification, and access, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy policiesWork with IT and legal teams to manage data risk, support audits, and establish clear data handling protocolsSupport Strategic Data InitiativesProvide governance leadership on enterprise projects including personalization, advanced analytics, CRM integration, and loyalty/membership expansionAssist in evaluating and implementing governance and cataloging tools such as: Microsoft Purview, Collibra and AlationRequired Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)Bachelor’s degree in data management, information systems, business, or a related field5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, and enterprise data managementProven track record of building or significantly contributing to a data governance program from scratch including data quality framework, metadata management framework and data stewardship modelStrong experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and data standardsKnowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworksFamiliarity with CRM, POS, ERP, Azure platform, and loyalty/membership platformsExperience with data cataloging, metadata management, or governance toolsKey Competencies & Behaviors Strong organizational skillsTime management skillsWork Environment Location: Downers Grove, IllinoisHybridCompensation & Benefits Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $135,000 - $150,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
