Sr. Kubernetes/OpenShift Engineer*6-month Contract to Hire*Fully RemoteOptomi, in partnership with one of our premier cleints, is seeking a Senior Kubernetes/OpenShift Engineer to support ongoing infrastructure modernization and cloud migration initiatives. The engineer will play a critical hands-on role in managing and supporting Kubernetes platforms, contributing to the setup of Cloud Landing Zones, and ensuring the stability of on-prem and cloud-based container environments.Key Responsibilities:Provide day-to-day operational support and engineering expertise for Kubernetes environments, primarily Rancher and OpenShift.Assist in the setup and implementation of Cloud Landing Zones as part of broader data center migration efforts.Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support containerized workloads.Perform Kubernetes scripting and CLI-based automation for cluster operations.Contribute to project delivery with minimal onboarding time by leveraging existing documentation and tooling.Participate in planning and implementation of additional cloud and migration initiatives in 2026.Required Qualifications:8–10 years of experience as a Senior Engineer in infrastructure or DevOps-focused roles.Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms, including Rancher and OpenShift.Proficient in Kubernetes command-line tooling (kubectl, oc, etc.) and scripting for operational tasks.Experience with Helm and ArgoCD.Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and support Kubernetes clusters in both on-prem and cloud contexts.Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across application and infrastructure teams.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline tools and deployment automation.Exposure to observability and monitoring platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
