Job Title: Water Operator
Under general supervision from the Water Maintenance Supervisor, this position is specifically charged with the laying, maintenance, and repair of water lines, taps, valves. The position also responsible for ensuring an adequate, safe potable water supply from multiple sources for the consuming public.
- Works effectively with other employees to repair or replace water service lines or mains.
- As part of a crew or alone, receives radio dispatched orders from office on complaints, water quailty issues, or low-pressure calls.
- Set up barricades, when required, to protect employees and the public.
- Preforms routine maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Makes water taps.
- Writes reports by hand an submit to the office daily.
- Serve as a standby when as needed and be on call rotation with other personnel.
- Must arrive to work on time and maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or the ability required. Knowledge of safety regulations to work safely with equipment used in utility maintenance work. Experience in working with various types of equipment including pumps, excavators, service trucks, wrenches, power tools, shovels, rakes, hammers. Must have the ability to work on water lines without contaminating the public water supply. Must have the ability to follow written or verbal instructions and the ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
