Payroll Administrator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator with a strong background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in certified payroll processes, a deep understanding of industry-specific payroll regulations, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with legal requirements, and supporting overall payroll operations within the company. Key Responsibilities: - Payroll Processing: Accurately process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and union workers, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. - Certified Payroll: Manage certified payroll processes, including the preparation and submission of required reports, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws, the Davis-Bacon Act, and other government regulations specific to the construction industry. - Data Entry and Validation: Input and validate payroll data, including timesheets, wage rates, deductions, and benefits, ensuring accuracy and completeness. - Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports, including certified payroll reports, and job cost reports. Generate ad hoc reports as needed. - Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting of payroll-related expenses in the general ledger. - Excel Proficiency: Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to manage, analyze, and report on payroll data, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP functions. - Communication: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and other related matters. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and project managers to ensure smooth payroll operations. - Record Keeping: Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee files, payroll tax filings, and other documentation in compliance with company policy and legal requirements. Qualifications: - Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably within the construction industry. - Certified Payroll: Proven experience with certified payroll processes and prevailing wage compliance is required. - Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools. Experience with Workmax, Computer EASE, and Payserve is a plus. - Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to the construction industry, such as the Davis-Bacon Act and state-specific prevailing wage laws. - Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, and external agencies. Bilingual is a plus!
