Lead iOS Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead iOS Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for enterprise mobile application initiatives within a growing mobile engineering organization. This position is ideal for a senior engineer looking to expand into software architecture while remaining technically engaged. The role will focus on defining mobile architecture, establishing development standards, mentoring engineers, and driving the successful delivery of enterprise-scale mobile applications.The successful candidate will partner closely with Product, UX, QA, and Engineering leadership to define technical direction, guide development teams, and ensure scalable, high-quality mobile solutions. While hands-on coding experience is required, this role places a greater emphasis on architecture, technical strategy, documentation, and engineering leadership than day-to-day feature development.This is a hybrid, contract-to-hire opportunity requiring two days per week onsite in either Reading, PA or Tampa, FL.ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI.Define mobile application architecture, technical standards, and development best practices across multiple initiatives.Partner with Product, UX, QA, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.Conduct architecture reviews, peer reviews, and code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.Develop proof-of-concepts and evaluate emerging technologies to support future mobile initiatives.Create technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and implementation standards.Assist development teams in troubleshooting complex technical issues and removing implementation roadblocks.Collaborate with distributed and offshore development teams to ensure consistent delivery and engineering practices.Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical design discussions.Balance strategic technical leadership with hands-on development when necessary.Influence technical direction and continuously improve engineering processes without direct people-management responsibilities.RequirementsExtensive experience developing native iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode, Cocoa Touch, and XCTest.Proven experience serving as a Lead Software Engineer, Technical Lead, or Mobile Architect on enterprise mobile applications.Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and scalable software design.Demonstrated experience defining technical standards, architectural direction, and engineering best practices.Experience conducting peer reviews, code reviews, and mentoring software engineers.Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Product, UX, QA, Architecture, and Engineering teams.Proven ability to lead technical discussions and influence engineering decisions.Experience supporting enterprise mobile applications from architecture through deployment.Experience leading distributed development teams and collaborating with offshore resources is highly preferred.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Objective-C, C++, Firebase, Google Analytics, OAuth, Realm, Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.Exposure to Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, or other enterprise backend technologies.Experience with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, or similar Agile development tools.Candidates local to the Reading, PA area are preferred, though exceptional candidates in the Tampa, FL area will also be considered.
