Development phases of this nature typically span through project completion (typically 2-4 years), though scope and duration are driven by business needs.Job SummaryThe Test Engineer / Planner IV is responsible for defining and executing portfolio-level validation strategies that verify the readiness, reliability, and safety of ASI's autonomous robotic systems. This role leads the development of large-scale testing frameworks that span individual components, integrated subsystems, and full autonomous vehicle platforms.As a Level IV contributor, this position establishes validation architecture, defines long-term testing strategies, and ensures traceability between system requirements, safety objectives, and test results. The role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to drive certification readiness, identify system risks, and communicate system performance and readiness to engineering leadership.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDefine and lead portfolio-level validation strategies for robotic and autonomous systemsCollaborate with program managers, systems engineers, software engineers, and mechatronics teams to understand system concepts of operation and design intentDevelop scalable test architectures that support verification across component, subsystem, and full-system integration levelsDesign and oversee structured test plans, test suites, and data collection strategies for integrated robotic systemsEstablish instrumentation strategies and testing methodologies that measure performance, reliability, safety, and durabilityAnalyze test data and system performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and readiness risksEnsure traceability between system requirements, test plans, results, and safety or certification objectivesLead readiness reviews and provide data-driven recommendations on system performance and risk mitigationEstablish scalable data analysis methods and reporting standards for validation activitiesContribute to the development of automated testing frameworks using tools such as Python or C++Support development of validation environments including hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and simulation-based testingServe as a technical advisor on system validation strategy, safety compliance, and system readinessEssential Education, Work Experience, Job SkillsBachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field10+ years of experience in verification, validation, systems integration, or related engineering rolesDemonstrated experience defining large-scale validation strategies and system-level testing frameworksStrong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements traceability, and development lifecyclesExperience designing structured test plans and data collection methodologies for complex systemsProficiency with Python, C++, or similar scripting languages used in test automationExperience with version control systems such as GitFamiliarity with requirements and test management tools such as Jira, JAMA, or similar platformsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to lead cross-functional validation initiatives and communicate technical findings clearlyPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Engineering or a related disciplineExperience working with robotics or autonomous vehicle systemsFamiliarity with ROS or ROS2 frameworksExperience with HIL/SIL testing systems and simulation tools such as GazeboUnderstanding of embedded systems and communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, or SPIExperience working within functional safety or regulated engineering environmentsBenefitsASI offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:401k with employer matchGenerous HSA contributionPTO, Paid Holidays, and FlextimeASI covers 90% of employee medical plan costsEEO STATEMENTAt Autonomous Solutions, Inc.
