Mechanical Engineer

About the CompanyWe are partnering with a well-funded technology company specializing in advanced robotic systems. They engineer durable, high-performance platforms designed to navigate and operate safely in highly unstructured and extreme physical environments. Their products serve a variety of sectors where safety, reliability, and real-time data collection are critical, including heavy industrial, government, and commercial applications.Role OverviewAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will own critical mechanical systems and their integration into larger assemblies. Many of these sub-systems operate as complex electro-mechanical assemblies subject to harsh environmental conditions. You will manage projects through the full hardware lifecycle, from initial concept and structural/thermal analysis through to production and field deployment. We are looking for engineers who take initiative, care deeply about the details, and thrive when given the autonomy to make high-impact technical decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Ownership: Own complex mechanical systems and drive them through all levels of product maturity.Design & Engineering: Create innovative solutions based on system requirements, producing 3D CAD models and proof-of-concept prototypes.Rapid Iteration: Drive concept validation and critical learnings, rapidly developing custom test platforms to accelerate the development timeline.Analysis: Conduct robust analysis to ensure designs satisfy strength, reliability, thermal, and assembly requirements.Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and participate in design reviews and issue triages, ensuring seamless alignment with cross-disciplinary engineering teams (Electrical/Software).Documentation: Generate assembly layouts and detailed engineering drawings utilizing GD&T concepts. Document design justifications, test results, and recommendations.Manufacturing & Testing: Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure part quality and manufacturability. Design and build necessary jigs, test fixtures, and custom tooling.Assembly & Deployment: Assemble systems to evaluate performance and integration. Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans, performing root-cause analysis on hardware during development and in the field.Stakeholder Interaction: Communicate directly with end-users and product stakeholders to determine engineering direction for specific features and clarify technical requirements.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.Industry Experience: 3+ years of professional mechanical design and analysis experience, with a specific focus on complex robotic, aerospace, or advanced electro-mechanical systems.Product Lifecycle: Proven track record of successfully navigating the full hardware product lifecycle, taking systems from initial concept and prototyping through to full-scale production and commercialization.Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in 3D CAD modeling and mechanical/thermal FEA software (e.g., Solidworks, Ansys).GD&T Mastery: Strong applied knowledge to expert-level proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.Leadership & Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to thrive and provide technical leadership in fast-paced, rapidly scaling environments. Capable of supporting cross-functional scaling across engineering and operations during critical product development phases. We are committed to submitting suitable candidates for this vacancy to our client ASAP, for more information contact Maria Mercado at PER Recruitment or send your CV at maria.m@per-international.com
