Position Information Position title: Sebastian G. Ciancio Endowed Chair of Periodontics and Endodontics. Department: Department of Periodontics and Endodontics. Institution: University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Position Summary University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine invites qualified candidates for the position of Associate/Full Professor HS in the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics. The faculty will serve as the Sebastian G. Ciancio Endowed Chair of Periodontics and Endodontics, reporting to and serving at the discretion of the Dean. The responsibilities encompass predoctoral and postdoctoral education, service activities, clinical care, faculty mentoring and development and research. Additional responsibilities include supporting advanced education programs and their alumni, mentoring students, residents and fellows, and representing the department at internal and external meetings. The Chair is expected to demonstrate leadership in strategic planning, management of departmental curriculum, budgeting, staffing and supervision, faculty development, and comprehensive oversight of departmental operations, reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Dental Medicine. The ideal candidate will be an individual recognized for national or international distinction, with a strong commitment to evidence‑based teaching and clinical practice. The candidate must possess established leadership experience and demonstrate a proven ability to effectively engage and communicate with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students to cultivate and realize a shared vision for departmental advancement. Preferred candidate also has a distinguished record of securing extramural funding and scholarly achievement. Minimum Qualifications DDS/DMD degree or equivalent Master's degree in biomedical or health‑related sciences Completion of a certificate program in Periodontics or Endodontics Demonstrated scholarly activity, including a notable record of publications and potential to secure extramural research funding Preferred Qualifications PhD in biomedical or health‑related sciences Established record of extramural research funding (federal, foundation, and/or industry) Sustained experience in academia, dental institutions, or research organizations Board certification by the American Board of Periodontology or by the American Board of Endodontics Eligibility for a full dental license or a restricted dental faculty license in the New York State Demonstrated excellence in leadership, including experience building and leading successful teams Physical Demands (Not specified) Salary Range Commensurate with Experience Job Type Full Time, Tenure Track.
