EMS Senior Technician
Duties: The EMS Senior Technician will assist the EMS Supervisor in the duties and perform field work to help maintain the district HVAC Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Energy Management Systems (EMS). The EMS Senior Technician will work with the LAUSD technical quality support team (TQST) to repair and maintain the HVAC DDC front end EMS and use them to encourage preventive maintenance, identify potential energy conservation measures, and suggest facility improvements. Assist with HVAC DDC and EMS Design and Submittal reviewsAssist in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioningAssist in reviewing EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation and preventive maintenance measuresPerform site visits to investigate and evaluate EMS/DDC conditions on identified projectsScope out and implement low-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sitesRespond to trouble calls, calibrate systems, and troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical and DDC problemsAssist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects Required Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience as an HVAC DDC technicianUnderstanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshootingAbility to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC DDC maintenance issuesFundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.Required Education:Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology)ORTwo-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics-related studies with additional 2 years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with multiple DDC manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or TraneProven ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phasesExperience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sitesExtensive experience in performing or assisting in performance of commissioning of EMS
