SQL Server Developer – ContractLocation: Atlanta, GA Metro | HybridEngagement: 6-Month ContractLevel: Mid-LevelPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced SQL Server Developer to support a business-critical enterprise systems environment during a large-scale ERP modernization initiative.This position will focus primarily on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing SQL-based integrations connecting core business applications with a legacy ERP platform. The developer will work closely with current team members to understand existing integration logic, stabilize data flows, troubleshoot issues, and gradually assume ownership of ongoing development and support activities.This is a strong opportunity for someone who is comfortable working within an established environment where some system knowledge is undocumented and must be learned through collaboration, investigation, and hands-on troubleshooting.The position is not responsible for leading the ERP migration architecture. Instead, this person will help maintain the current environment and support data validation and integration activities while internal resources concentrate on the broader transformation program.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain, troubleshoot, and enhance SQL Server-based integrations between enterprise business applications and ERP systems.Develop, modify, and optimize T-SQL, including stored procedures, views, queries, and database objects.Support existing ETL processes and scheduled data integration jobs.Partner with internal technical resources to understand current integration logic, dependencies, data flows, and known failure points.Troubleshoot data discrepancies and integration failures across multiple business systems.Assist with data reconciliation, validation, and testing associated with an ongoing ERP modernization initiative.Analyze dependencies involving financial, intercompany, and consolidated data across multiple business entities.Document existing integrations, business rules, technical dependencies, and support procedures.Perform SQL performance troubleshooting and optimization as needed.Work with both SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments supporting interconnected enterprise applications.Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancement support while internal resources focus on larger modernization initiatives.Work independently after becoming familiar with the existing application and database environment.Required Qualifications4+ years of hands-on SQL Server development experience.Strong experience with:T-SQLStored proceduresViews and complex queriesDatabase troubleshootingQuery and performance optimizationExperience with SSIS or comparable ETL/data integration technologies.Experience working with or supporting an ERP or enterprise financial system.Working knowledge of PostgreSQL. Deep expertise is not required, but candidates should have prior hands-on exposure.Experience working with financial or accounting-related data, such as:General ledgerIntercompany transactionsReconciliationsConsolidationsFinancial data integrationsAbility to troubleshoot existing integrations and understand unfamiliar database logic.Comfortable working within legacy systems and codebases with limited documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently after an initial knowledge-transfer period.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains or a comparable ERP platform.Experience supporting an ERP implementation, modernization, migration, or cutover.Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management is beneficial but not required.Experience working with complex financial or transaction-heavy data environments.Experience supporting integrations across multiple business entities or operating companies.Familiarity with Git or another source-control platform.Ideal CandidateThe strongest candidate will be a hands-on SQL developer who enjoys digging into existing systems, understanding how data moves between applications, and solving integration problems.You should be comfortable entering an environment where not everything is perfectly documented and where part of the initial assignment will involve learning from existing team members, tracing data flows, identifying dependencies, and turning that knowledge into maintainable documentation.This role is best suited for someone who can quickly become self-sufficient and take ownership of ongoing SQL development and integration support while a broader enterprise systems transformation is underway.
