The Supplier Quality Engineer II also implements a supplier quality improvement and monitoring process that optimizes the supplier performance, product quality, and business qualification with Crane.Essential FunctionsPartner with Supply Chain Director and other leadership team members to determine annual supplier quality objectivesImplement and maintain a Supplier Scorecard that monitors supplier quality, delivery and other metrics that track the general performance of the supplierSupport supplier Quarterly Business Reviews, assess supplier performance, monitor corrective action status, and drive supplier to continuous improvementLiaise with site Quality teams and suppliers to assure that quality issues are addressed, and corrective actions are in place and being properly managed to assure root cause analysis and corrective action reportingConduct assessments of suppliers’ quality system and process control capability, and drive implementation of improvement plansPartner with suppliers to develop quality control plans for assigned commodities and drive implementationConduct first article and first batch audit inspectionsAny other task assigned by supervisor or managementTravel to suppliers (both local and not local) up to 40%. Non-Essential FunctionsPrepare management reports and presentations regarding quality status and supplier performanceSupport Material Review Board (MRB)Actively engage and understand trends in the industry’s approach to quality and new approaches that may provide benefit to BUExperienceMinimum Requirements: 3+ years of related experience for level II and 5+ years of related experience for level IIISkillsEffective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; Effective and consistent decision-making skillsAbility to work multiple problems/issues simultaneouslyAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsDemonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environmentDemonstrated ability to rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsKnowledgeWorking knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologiesFamiliarity with supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metricsKnowledge of the latest quality science tools including, FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Capability study and reduction of variationsKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsExposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc)Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the fieldKnows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or programEducation/CertificationBachelor’s degree in engineering, or other related Science/Engineering field.
