Project Electrical Engineer (Contract) Location: North Charleston, SC (Hybrid: 4 days onsite / 1 remote) Duration: June - December 2026 (Contract-to-Hire) Schedule: 40 hours/week Overview We are seeking a Project Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of advanced electrical and control systems for underwater robotic and electromechanical platforms. This role supports U.S. Navy and Department of Defense programs and offers a mix of design, integration, and hands-on engineering work. Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical system and subsystem design for complex engineering projectsDevelop schematics, wiring diagrams, and system-level documentationTranslate high-level requirements into practical engineering solutionsCollaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teamsSupport system integration, testing, and troubleshootingParticipate in design reviews and ensure quality/accuracy of deliverablesMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field7+ years of experience in electrical system design and developmentExperience across full product lifecycle (design, build, test, integration)Strong knowledge of power systems, controls, and electrical componentsProficiency with CAD tools and electronic test equipmentU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance Desired Skills & ExperienceExperience with underwater robotics, marine systems, or automationKnowledge of communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS-232/485, SPI, I2C)Embedded systems and COTS integration experiencePCB design, motor controls, or fiber opticsFamiliarity with industry standards (IEEE, MIL, NEC)Hands-on experience with lab/test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers)Willingness to travel occasionally (1-2 weeks as needed) With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
