Signal Processing Engineer (RF / Passive Sensing)
Job Title: Signal Processing Engineer (RF / Passive Sensing)Location: Arlington, VA (Onsite with Periodic Travel)Company: A2Labs/WayWave Inc.Job Type:Full-timeJob Summary:WayWave Inc. (affiliate and spinout of A2 Labs) is developing next-generation airspace awareness capabilities using passive sensing techniques that leverage existing RF signals (e.g., satellite communications and other non-cooperative emitters) as opportunistic sources for detection and tracking. We are seeking a Signal Processing Engineer to design, develop, and deploy algorithms that extract actionable intelligence from complex RF environments. This role sits at the intersection of signal processing, remote sensing, and real-world system deployment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the full lifecycle, from algorithm development and simulation to field testing and operational integration and is excited about applying signal processing techniques to challenging, real-world problems in contested and dynamic environments.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement signal processing algorithms for detection, localization, and tracking of airborne objects using passive RF dataDesign approaches for exploiting non-cooperative signals (e.g., satellite communications, commercial RF sources) for sensing and situational awarenessProcess and analyze time-series and spectral RF data in noisy, interference-rich environmentsBuild and validate models for waveform characterization, propagation effects, and target signaturesContribute to multi-sensor data fusion approaches combining RF, geospatial, and other data sourcesSupport field testing, data collection campaigns, and performance evaluation in real-world environmentsCollaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineers to integrate algorithms into operational systemsAnalyze experimental results and iterate rapidly to improve system performanceCommunicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersQualifications:U.S. Citizenship requiredAbility to obtain security clearanceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field3+ years experience in signal processing, RF engineering, or related domainStrong foundation in digital signal processing (DSP), including filtering, spectral analysis, and detection theoryExperience working with real-world data (not just simulation) and dealing with noise, interference, and imperfect signalsProficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar technical computing environmentsAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute across disciplinesDesired Attributes:Active security clearanceExperience with RF signal exploitation, passive radar, or remote sensing systemsFamiliarity with satellite communications (e.g., Starlink, OneWeb) or similar RF sourcesExperience with geolocation techniques (e.g., TDOA, FDOA, multilateration)Exposure to tracking algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters, multi-target tracking)Experience with software-defined radios (SDRs) and RF data collection systemsBackground in machine learning applied to signal processing or time-series dataExperience working on deployed systems or field-testing campaignsAdditional Information:Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunities for growth as the company expands A2 Labs/WayWave Inc. is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusionIf you possess the qualifications and skills outlined above and are ready to contribute to our team's success, we encourage you to apply.
