Inquiries concerning this search may be directed to avchhsearch@mednet.ucla.eduOverview UCLA Housing & Hospitality (H&H) seeks applications and nominations for an experienced, strategic, business-minded hospitality leader with a deep commitment to the highest service standards to serve as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Housing & Hospitality.As one of the largest premier university housing and hospitality departments, UCLA H&H aims to transform UCLA from a commuter to a residential campus and to create environments that empower people to reach their fullest potential, with a vision of "Hospitality First!"Position Summary The Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Housing & Hospitality provides the vision and strategic leadership for an expansive, high-quality portfolio of self-supporting auxiliary services with an annual operating budget of more than $570M and approximately 2,600 team members. The AVC H&H ensures the long-term financial viability of the enterprise, directs activities in:on-campus student housing and residential dining services (over 15,000 student residents and 7 million meals annually)university apartments (10,000 residents in over 5,000 off-campus units at 30 locations)faculty housing (197 units off campus)a large hospitality enterprise including Luskin Conference Center, Lake Arrowhead Lodge, UCLA Bruin Woods, Inn at UCLA, UCLA Conference Services, UCLA Catering, UCLA Vending, and the University Club.Responsibilities The ideal candidate will have a broad and deep understanding of hospitality property and food management, including operations of multi-site properties with high-quality multi-location dining operations. Responsibilities include:Provide strategic leadership for self-supporting auxiliary services with a multi-site portfolio and multi-million-dollar operations.Lead financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and execution to ensure long-term viability and alignment with the university's financial plan.Set a vision and lead the department to achieve goals, including long-range objectives based on data and benchmarking and translating them into tactical plans.Demonstrate political savvy, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, negotiation, and collaboration to formulate policies and programs.Foster an open climate that supports employee communication and positive departmental interaction.Oversee housing and hospitality-related computer systems including property management, reservations, inventory, and maintenance systems.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience (required).Demonstrated skill in property and food management across multiple hotels, restaurants, and related support functions (required).Experience in hospitality property management and managing a comprehensive, high-quality multi-location dining operation (required).Working knowledge of staff personnel policies, collective bargaining, university accounting, purchasing, real estate management, and related laws (required).Proven ability to financially manage multi-million-dollar operations, including planning, budgeting, and variance analysis (required).Ability to set a departmental vision and lead toward achieving goals (required).Ability to determine critical paths, prioritize workloads, and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines (required).Strong negotiation and policy development skills with the ability to reach joint decisions (required).Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse departments, university personnel, and the public (required).Experience in leadership, management, and supervision of a diverse workforce (required).Ability to foster open communication and positive departmental culture (required).Experience with housing and hospitality-related computer systems and related software (required).Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience (required).Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid California noncommercial Class C license (required).Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Employment contingent on satisfactory background investigation.Live Scan Background Check prior to start of employment.Age Requirement: 18 years or older to be hired.Driving Record: Subject to California DMV Pull Notice System; continued employment contingent on satisfactory driving record.Conflict of Interest: Must comply with University Conflict of Interest Code; may be required to complete financial statements for public record.Evening, weekend, and holiday work as business dictates (required).Occasional attendance at offsite conferences and meetings (required).Must carry a University cell phone (required).On-site work and travel to offsite facilities as needed to manage operations (required).20% Domestic Travel.Schedule 8:00 am to 5:00 pmComplete Position Description For full details, refer to the official job posting.#J-18808-Ljbffr
