Distribution Manager

Quality Edge, a growing manufacturer headquartered in Walker, Michigan, is seeking an experienced Distribution/Logistics Manager to support our continued growth in West Michigan and our nationwide distribution network. This position is responsible for all aspects of warehousing and distribution, including service to customers nationwide and support for our out-of-state distribution sites within a unique delivery model. The ideal candidate combines strong distribution and logistics expertise with hands-on operational leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. If you are passionate about customer service, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams, this position may be for you. *Key Responsibilities* * Manage all aspects of warehousing finished goods, including inventory replenishment quantities. * Manage all aspects of product distribution within our delivery model, ensuring complete, damage-free shipments to customer facilities and distribution centers in the most customer-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient manner. * Create, negotiate, and manage distribution vendor relationships required to meet our service, cost, and performance standards. * Assume responsibility for DOT compliance, driver programs, transportation administration, and safe fleet operations. * Analyze transportation and inventory needs to determine the best stocking strategies for our facilities and the most effective delivery options for customers. * Maintain direct customer contact to foster strong relationships, understand distribution needs, and ensure satisfaction with product delivery. * Establish goals, objectives, operating plans, and performance expectations for the distribution team. * Develop, analyze, and manage the national transportation plan, including shipping lanes, carrier capacity, and service requirements. * Establish packaging, loading, shipping, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards, and hold the team accountable for consistent execution. *Key Skills Required* * Degree in logistics management highly preferred. * Five to ten years of progressive distribution, logistics, warehouse, or operations management experience; a related four-year degree is required. * Demonstrated operational leadership experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environment, including responsibility for safety, quality, service, labor, cost, and continuous improvement. * Ability to plan national distribution, secure the necessary resources, and negotiate effectively with carriers and vendors. * Experience with DOT regulations, administration and driver qualifications. * Strong balance of distribution, transportation, warehousing, customer service, people leadership, and administrative skills. * Well-developed communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Strong understanding of trucking, logistics, and warehouse operations. * Exceptional leadership skills with a visible, hands-on approach to working with teams across shifts. * Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced growth environment. * MRP experience preferred; JDE E1 experience is a plus. * Experience shipping long skids and managing nonstandard freight is helpful. * Advanced Excel skills along with Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement experience is preferred.
