Software Test EngineerLocation: Dallas/Fort Worth, TXCompany: BelcanPosition Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to support verification and validation activities for complex software and system-level applications. This role focuses on developing and running tests within aerospace, defense, autonomy, or embedded system environments. The engineer will contribute to ensuring system performance, reliability, and compliance through rigorous testing, continuous integration, and cross-functional collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform manual software and system-level testing across various development stagesDesign, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scriptsExecute regression, functional, and integration test suitesSupport the evaluation and implementation of AI-assisted solutions to improve test case development, test coverage, and overall testing efficiency.Support continuous integration (CI) pipelines with automated validation activitiesDevelop and maintain test cases, procedures, and test documentationPerform Verification & Validation (V&V) in accordance with program requirementsIdentify, document, and track defects, discrepancies, and test resultsConduct root-cause analysis and support defect resolution with engineering teamsReview and interpret technical requirements, interface specifications, and system architecturesCollaborate with software, systems, manufacturing, integration, and program management teamsSupport system integration, lab testing, and fielding activitiesRequired QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of hands-on experience designing and developing software solutions in C# within a .NET environment.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline3–7 years of relevant experience, depending on level and role classificationExperience executing software and/or system-level testing in one or more of the following:AerospaceDefense systemsRobotics or autonomy platformsEmbedded systems environmentsStrong understanding of software test methodologies, including:Verification & Validation (V&V)Regression testingFunctional and integration testingTest case and procedure developmentAbility to read and interpret:Technical requirementsInterface control documents (ICDs)Software/system documentationTest procedures and system architecturesStrong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skillsExperience documenting test execution results, discrepancies, and defect reportsProven ability to work in multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting:Unmanned systems or autonomy platformsAerospace or defense programsExperience with:Flight testing or field integration activitiesFamiliarity with aerospace and defense standards:DO-178CDO-254MIL-HDBK-516CMIL-STD frameworks or equivalentsExperience testing embedded or distributed systemsExperience supporting first-of-type system integration and fieldingFamiliarity with CI/CD tools and automated testing pipelinesKey SkillsAnalytical thinking and attention to detailStrong problem-solving and debugging capabilitiesEffective cross-team collaborationAbility to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environmentsCommitment to quality, safety, and compliance standardsWork EnvironmentCollaborative engineering environment with cross-functional teamsWork may include lab, integration facility, or field test environmentsOccasional travel may be required to support system integration or test eventsCompensation:We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $85,000-125,000, however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
