Job Description
Position SummaryThe Process Engineer will serve as the primary owner of the NCR process across forging, machining, and manufacturing operations. This individual will work cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Customers to investigate product nonconformances, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve manufacturing processes to reduce repeat issues.This role requires a hands-on technical professional who understands forged components, machining tolerances, material traceability, customer specifications, and manufacturing quality systems.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the complete NCR process from initiation through closureReview and evaluate internal and external nonconformances related to forging, machining, dimensional inspection, material defects, documentation, and manufacturing processesLead root cause investigations using methodologies such as:8D5 WhyFishbone/IshikawaCorrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)Coordinate containment activities and product disposition decisions including:Use-as-isReworkRepairScrapWork directly with machining, forging, heat treat, inspection, and production teams to identify process failures and implement corrective actionsAnalyze recurring quality issues and develop process improvements to reduce scrap, rework, and customer escapesSupport customer audits, supplier quality issues, and customer-facing NCR responsesEnsure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality proceduresCollaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve manufacturing methods, process flow, and product qualityReview manufacturing travelers, inspection reports, certifications, and traceability documentationMonitor NCR trends, KPIs, and corrective action effectivenessParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and process reliabilitySupport quality system compliance and audit readinessQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred5+ years of experience in machining, forging, manufacturing quality, or process engineering environmentsStrong knowledge of NCR management and corrective action systems within heavy manufacturing environmentsExperience with forged products, machining operations, and metal manufacturing processesUnderstanding of:GD&TBlueprint readingMetallurgy fundamentalsRoot cause analysisManufacturing process controlsExperience working with customer specifications and quality standards in oil & gas, energy, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing preferredFamiliarity with ISO quality systems and manufacturing documentation requirementsStrong communication and cross-functional problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work directly on the production floor in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPreferred ExperienceForging and ring rolling operationsCNC machining environmentsAPI, ASME, ASTM, or ISO standardsERP/MRP systemsSupplier quality investigationsCustomer complaint resolutionContinuous improvement / Lean manufacturing initiatives
