Since 2014, we have expanded our operations to a state-of-the-art facility, supporting projects across our region with a dedicated team of skilled professionals.Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Freight Specialist to manage the end-to-end transportation and logistics needs for a multi-site manufacturing operation across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience brokering shipments, optimizing freight costs, and coordinating with carriers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods. This role is critical in maintaining supply chain efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities·Freight Brokering & Coordination: Source, negotiate, and manage carriers for both inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring competitive rates and service levels.·Multi-State Logistics Management: Oversee freight movements across multiple manufacturing sites, coordinating delivery schedules and managing transportation requirements.·Carrier Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and 3PL providers to ensure reliable service and timely problem resolution.·Cost Optimization: Analyze freight spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to reduce shipping expenses without compromising service.·Shipment Tracking & Reporting: Monitor shipment status, troubleshoot delays, and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders. Maintain accurate transportation records and documentation for audits and compliance.·Compliance & Safety: Ensure shipments comply with federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including hazardous materials and safety standards.·Continuous Improvement: Evaluate freight processes, recommend process enhancements, and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.·Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, production, inventory, and customer service teams to meet operational objectives and delivery commitments.Required Qualifications· Active Freight Brokerage License Required· 3-5+ years of experience in freight, logistics, or transportation coordination· Experience managing multi-site and multi-state logistics operations.· Strong knowledge of carrier negotiation, freight contracts, and cost optimization.· Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems), ERP systems, and shipment tracking tools.· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external collaboration.· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.· Knowledge of regulatory compliance (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and hazmat) preferredPreferred Qualifications· Experience with both LTL and FTL shipments.· Existing carrier network and relationships in relevant regions.· Logistics or supply chain certification (e.g., CSCP, CLTD)Key Competencies· Operational execution and attention to detail· Negotiation and vendor management· Problem-solving under time constraints· Data-driven decision making· Strong communication skillsKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)· On-time shipment· Freight cost per shipment· Carrier performance· Claims ratio and resolution time· Load optimization rates
