You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project, and be able to scope projects based on client interactions and standard due diligence. A Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, design solutions, specifications and field work, and must be able to teach, guide, and develop staff effectively. The projects that a Civil Engineer may be assigned to may be broad, varied and diverse in scope. This role also analyzes proposed projects to ensure reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.Your Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for design of multiple projects, which may include residential, commercial, and industrial development projectsUtilize technologies including Civil 3D in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for supporting engineers/designersLead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendorsParticipate in value analysis, and basic cost estimatingAct as a resource to developing engineers, EITs, and other technical staff on multiple independent projectsAssist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and scheduleLead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documentsConducts quality assurance and quality control on projectsYour Capabilities and CredentialsRequisite knowledge and application of civil engineering codes and design requirements of counties and municipalities in local market; Familiar with the process of obtaining approval from local municipal entitiesGeneral understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsStrong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standardsAbility to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agenciesThorough understanding of task assignments and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resourcesAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtThorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to othersEffective communicator and able to work in a team environmentProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack (among others)Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in EngineeringLicensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 monthsMinimum of 4 years of experienceTypically, this position works in an open-concept office environment. Local travel may be required, such as attending meetings or visiting job sites. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
