Job DescriptionJob Title: Production PlannerLocation: Corry, PAReports To: Manager, Materials & Manufacturing PlanningPosition SummaryThe Production Planner independently owns production planning and scheduling for assigned product families or value streams and serves as a key contributor to the site’s master scheduling process. This role translates demand signals into executable production plans while balancing capacity, materials, and service requirements.Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Schedule OwnershipOwn short-, mid-, and near‑term production schedules for assigned products or value streamsTranslate forecasts, customer demand, and MPS targets into executable production plansManage schedule trade-offs across service, inventory, and capacityProactively identify risks to schedule stability and recommend mitigation plansMaster Scheduling Support & ReadinessSupport the Master Production Schedule (MPS) by validating feasibility of demand plansProvide input on capacity constraints, lead times, and production flexibilityParticipate in demand and supply alignment discussions (S&OE / execution reviews)Help stabilize the frozen and slushy planning horizons through disciplined executionCapacity & Constraint ManagementAnalyze labor, equipment, and material constraints across planning horizonsPartner with manufacturing leadership to resolve capacity gaps or sequencing challengesEscalate systemic constraints and propose planning or structural improvementsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Purchasing and Materials to ensure material availability aligns with production plansCoordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality on changes impacting schedule feasibilityCommunicate schedule priorities, risks, and changes clearly to operations and leadershipData, Systems & Continuous ImprovementMaintain and improve planning master data (lead times, routings, lot sizes, BOM accuracy)Track and analyze performance metrics such as schedule adherence, plan attainment, and inventory impactDrive continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy, stability, and responsivenessRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)2-4 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials planningWorking knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor etc.)Experience balancing demand, capacity, and material constraintsAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, scenario analysis)Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skillsAbility to operate independently and influence without authorityPreferred QualificationsAPICS / ASCM CPIM certificationExperience in high-mix, make-to-order, or capacity-constrained environmentsExposure to S&OP / S&OE processes and demand planning conceptsKey Competencies (Master Scheduler-Aligned)End-to-end planning ownershipHorizon-based thinking (execution vs. stabilization vs. future demand)Strong business and operational acumenData-driven decision makingClear, confident communication with leadership and operationsComfort managing ambiguity and competing prioritiesWhat Success Looks LikeStable, achievable production plans that support MPS objectivesReduced firefighting through proactive planning and risk identificationImproved alignment between demand, capacity, and inventoryStrong partnership with Manufacturing and Materials leadershipThe successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.
