Childpeace Montessori School is seeking an experienced Middle School Classroom Guide to lead our dynamic 7th-8th grade community in Language Arts and Humanities and other areas of the curriculum. In this role, you'll create an enriching classroom environment rooted in Montessori principles, guide students' academic and personal growth, and foster meaningful connections between home and school.What You'll DoDesign and implement effective and creative curriculum and instructionPrepare engaging classroom environments and plan lessons that meet each student's learning needsModel intellectual curiosity and guide across multiple subject areas with flexibility and passionCollaborate with a dynamic team of middle school guides to create an interdisciplinary curriculum that brings learning aliveCollaborate with a fellow guides to support adolescents' microeconomy businesses and creative expressionsAssess student progress through observation and multiple assessment tools, supporting academic, social, emotional, and physical developmentAdvise and support student development Serve as an advisor to approximately 10 adolescentsManage classroom dynamics with clear presentations, positive behavioral supports, and developmentally appropriate expectationsSupport students in developing conflict resolution, collaboration, and self-regulation skillsMaintain a beautiful, organized, and sustainable classroom environment where students take ownership of their spaceEngage with the community Integrate city explorations and real-world learning into your curriculum, connecting students with community expertsCo-lead annual Odyssey (7-10 day) and Spring (5-day) camping trips, creating transformative experiences for studentsSupport student-led community outings and foster responsibility for the world around themBuild supportive home-school partnerships Build supportive home-school partnerships through regular communication and advocacy for each student in your advisory group and classesConduct twice-yearly formal conferences and offer ongoing availability for familiesProvide parent education on Montessori philosophy and student developmentWho You Are Bachelor's degree or higherMontessori teacher training or certification (AMI Adolescent training preferred)Minimum 2 years of teaching experienceKnowledge of adolescent development and experience working with middle school-aged studentsExperience leading outdoor education or extended field tripsWhy Childpeace?
