The Controller works closely with the Director of Finance and other managers to prepare budgets, forecasts, and to drive achievement to targets. Together with the Director of Finance, he or she keeps tight controls over cost center spend and supports continuous process improvements. The Controller is accountable for preparing financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). He or she maintains adequate accounting records, maintains a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's financial results. The Plant Controller will report to the Director of Finance and will maintain close collaboration with the Alamo Group finance organization.Essential Functions:Financial Reporting:Prepare GAAP compliant month-end and year-end financial statements including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.Provide supplemental reporting information to corporate accountingCollaborate with Director of Finance in data and analysis requirementsOversee chart of accounts, general ledger, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAPEnsure all balance sheet accounts and selected income statement accounts are reconciled monthlyEnsure regulatory compliance and financial data integrity and accuracyBudgeting and Forecasting:Support annual budgets and presentations supporting Board approvalsSupport monthly forecasts and analyze variances, risks, and opportunitiesEstablish and monitor performance metrics and KPIs for the accounting / inventory management teamOperational Performance:Maintain cross-functional collaboration with the operations, sales, and marketing teams to provide insight and support decision makingPrepare labor and overhead rates for manufacturing cost accountingMaintain tight control over cost and provide transparency to drive high operational efficiencyManage net working capital including performance in receivables and inventoryReview all capital purchases and ensure proper accounting recordsIdentify and implement continuous improvement plans within the organizationMonitor and maintain effective inventory policies and procedures to ensure accurate accounting control of material flowLead finance and non-finance teams or projects, as assignedStrategy:Support the management with strategic analysis leading to timely and proactive decision makingUnderstand and analyze risks and opportunities for the companySupport mergers and acquisitions as necessary (financial due diligence, valuation, integration)ComplianceServe as a compliance manager for the company, ensuring internal controls and safeguards for assets are effectiveManage operational data and ensure financial data integrity and accuracyCoordinate all activities and information for annual auditsMaintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and work instructionsEnsure proper training across cross-functional teams to instill compliance within the organizationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:Accounting and budgeting including Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesAdvanced knowledge of major financial systems acumen such as JD Edwards, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Oracle.
