Job Description
Must have completed Behavior Specialist / ABA Therapy training and have a minimum 1+ years Behavior Therapy experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.This contract position is for an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) supporting elementary schools in Anoka, MN, during the 2025-2026 school year. The assignment runs from January 5, 2026, through June 5, 2026, with a typical schedule of approximately 18.75 hours per week, generally between 8:30 AM and 4:10 PM. The specialist will collaborate closely with another BIS and a special education administrator to provide behavioral support across four elementary schools.Key Responsibilities:Conduct functional behavior assessments and implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) tailored to individual student needs.Collaborate with school teams to develop appropriate programming that fosters a positive learning environment.Utilize de-escalation techniques, reinforce positive behaviors, and responsibly apply restrictive procedures when necessary.Assist in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.Deliver staff training on behavioral strategies and recommendations.Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform instructional decisions and student progress.Maintain safety and uphold all relevant school policies and procedures.Adapt flexibly to meet student needs and respond calmly in crisis situations.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.Qualifications:Licensed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a Special Education Teacher holding a Tier 3 or Tier 4 license.Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification is not eligible.Experience working within school settings implementing behavior interventions.Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with school staff.Ability to manage crisis situations and maintain a positive, safe environment.This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student success by providing vital behavioral support within a collaborative school environment.
