Tool and Equipment Mechanic
Reports to Warehouse Manager
General Summary
The Tool Mechanic maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of equipment power tools, small engines, and generators through a managed maintenance, inspection, and repair program. This position is responsible for ensuring all tools released to jobsites are in safe operating condition to meet safety standards set forth by The Blakley Corporation.
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:
Ensures operation of small power tools, floor grinders, shot blast machines, vacuum systems and engines by completing preventive maintenance, and repairing tools and equipment on an as needed basis.
Controls downtime by informing Warehouse Manager of routine preventive maintenance techniques/repair schedule. Locates sources of problems by observing devices in operation listening for potential problems
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains technical knowledge.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains safe and clean working environment.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Other warehouse duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge and Other Characteristics
High School Graduate
10 years work related experience
Manufacturer’s training a plus
Mechanical aptitude
Technical understanding
Innate ability to repair small tools
Ability to work with deadlines
Required Physical Abilities:
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, use stairs and move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis
Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate any equipment necessary for tool repair
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted
Attention to detail and accuracy
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
