DescriptionPURPOSE:Manage the product selection, pricing, and promotions of the Produce Department to meet the co-op's objectives for sales growth and margin contribution, while managing price perception and meeting our standards of excellence for quality and merchandising REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Purchasing and Merchandising ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Maintain an up-to-date weekly order guide for the Produce Dept. • Set pricing to be competitive, provide value and meet co-op goals for sales and margin • Ensure PLUs and prices are up-to-date and maintained in the POS system • Ensure product assortment follows co-op standards and meets objectives for growth, margin, price image, brand, and mission. Ensure this mix prioritizes local and unique offerings • Work in collaboration with Produce Teams to manage existing vendors, supplier agreements and investigate new sources of supply • Work with Produce Teams to plan and execute weekly and seasonal promotionsand provide consistent reporting on the results • Work with Produce Managers and Merchandising Manager to plan department layouts seasonally that promote sales volume, stocking efficiency and highlight seasonal items • Utilize a category management calendar to ensure the departments are ready for peak seasons in selection, pricing, and merchandising • Facilitate teamwork, cooperation and communication between the Produce Depts. and the organization • Leverage and optimize relationships with local farmers, vendors and distributors (including Co-op Partners Warehouse) for increased product quality, inventory levels and sales growth • Create copy and content to support our products and point of difference in-store ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:• Previous experience managing or buying in a Produce Department preferred • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve objectives including sales and margin goals • Ability to handle multiple demands, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Organization, accuracy, and strong attention to detail • Ability to analyze and interpret sales data • Experience working with vendors and managing pricing, promotions, and displays. • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills • Knowledge of natural foods industry, topics such as organics, GMOs, fair trade, etc. • Demonstrated ability to achieve margin objectives. • Literacy with Windows - based PC software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint • Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds • Ability to work with TCCP to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:• Ability to lift 50 lbs • Ability to travel regularly between store locations • Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time per shift • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation Twin Cities Co-op Partners has an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of diversity and inclusiveness.
