(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineering Supervisor to join our Network & Product Engineering Team in Poway, California.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead Network Engineering team members to define network architecture design requirements. Work with other teams such as Project Engineering, Software Engineering, Configuration Management and Manufacturing personnel to facilitate tasks completion.Must possess and maintain a high level of proficiency in TCP/IP Network Infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance.Work with management on sustaining engineering tasks that impact existing Network Architecture and designs.Test, Troubleshoot, and repair network systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.Assist Engineers with producing documentation such as System Specifications and Production Test Procedures (PTP).Monitors and analyzes network usage and capacity for UAV systems.Participates in the evaluation of new communications technology to enhance the capabilities of the data network.Participates in the identification of solutions to ensure current and future data communications requirements are met.Participates in the preparation of network documentation, including operational instructions.May be the prime contact with customer and vendors.Develops configuration and technical networking support for both production and development systems.Designs and supports the networks for individual project team.Analyzes and modifies systems requirements as a part of a larger project team.Configures, manages and provides technical networking support for both physical and virtual environments.Design monitoring systems to trend network usage and capacity.Identifies malfunctions and makes corrections to network configurations to ensure efficient operation.Manages assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.Design, configure, and provides technical support for the firewalls, IPS, and other network security systems.Responds to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and provides technical assistance and support in a timely manner.Troubleshoots malfunctions of network applications to resolve operational issues and restore services.Monitors and documents traffic analysis.Coordinate the repair, replacement, or retirement of system and network infrastructure.Proactively identify, investigate, and propose resolutions to issues that could impact the network/server infrastructure utilized by customers to support mission operations.Performs other duties as assignedWe recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.Job QualificationsTypically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have demonstrated expertise with Network Routing and Switching Technologies to include but not limited to:Operating Systems (Windows, Linux), Computer Systems Hardware, Computer Systems Software, Switching Technologies (Spanning Tree, VLAN, P-VLAN, Snooping Technologies, SPAN / RSPAN / TAP, VACL, MAC-Address / CAM Table, BUM Filters / Storm Control, Port Aggregation / Ether-Channel, and Layer 3 Switching Features), Routing Technologies (Routing Protocols, BGP {IBGP, EBGP, Route Reflectors, and Metrics},)OSPF (LSA, Network Type, Redistribution, and Route Manipulation) and Multicast (PIM, IGMP, Sparse / Dense/ Sparse-Dense Mode, RP’s, and RPF)Encryption (IPSEC, Inline Network Encryptors, Suite B)TunnelingNetwork ManagementNetwork/Computer Systems Design TheoryTechnical DocumentationKnowledge of RETMA rack mountable equipment design and integration is desired.Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience is required.Demonstrated technical expertise of data network principles, theories, concepts and related disciplines and have project leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.Must be able to contribute to the development of new processes or systems, resolve complex technical problems, and serve as spokesperson or leader on projects.Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.Job Type: Full-Time SalarySalary range: 128,130 - 229,358
