Job Title: Senior SQL DeveloperLocation: Dallas, TX (Hybrid: Tuesday–Thursday Onsite)Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-HirePosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior SQL Developer to design, build, and support enterprise data solutions that drive reporting, analytics, and system integrations. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server—particularly SSIS, SSRS, and advanced T-SQL—along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders.The ideal candidate will begin by supporting and learning legacy systems, gaining a strong understanding of how data supports core business processes. This knowledge will then be applied to modern enterprise reporting platforms and a new SaaS solution. Success in this role depends on curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality data solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesSQL Development & Data EngineeringDesign, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, views, and functionsBuild and maintain SSIS packages for ETL, data integration, and migrationDevelop and support SSRS reports, dashboards, and data modelsEnsure performance, reliability, and data integrity across all database solutionsBusiness Partnership & AnalysisCollaborate with business users to understand workflows, reporting needs, and operationsTranslate business requirements into effective technical solutionsServe as a trusted advisor by communicating technical concepts in business-friendly termsQuickly learn and document business processes within legacy systemsLegacy Systems & ModernizationSupport and analyze existing legacy databases, reports, and integrationsDocument data structures, transformations, and embedded business logicLead or assist in migrating legacy systems to modern reporting platforms and SaaS solutionsIdentify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize data architectureEnterprise Reporting & SaaS EnablementPartner with cross-functional teams to enable reporting from SaaS platformsSupport data extraction, transformation, and validation during SaaS adoptionEnsure continuity of critical reporting during system transitionsPromote best practices in data governance, documentation, and reporting standardsCollaboration & QualityWork closely with developers, integration teams, and IT leadershipParticipate in code reviews, testing, and deploymentsMaintain clear documentation for data models and ETL processesSupport troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuningRequired QualificationsStrong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL ServerAdvanced expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)Advanced expertise in SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)Deep experience with T-SQL and complex stored proceduresProven ability to support and analyze legacy systemsExperience with data/reporting modernization or migration effortsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation abilitiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with enterprise reporting or BI platformsExposure to SaaS and cloud-based data environmentsExperience with PostgreSQL, especially in SaaS/cloud settingsKnowledge of data modeling and performance tuningFamiliarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methodologiesExperience in environments undergoing digital transformationKey Success FactorsAbility to quickly understand business operations and data dependenciesComfort working with incomplete or undocumented legacy systemsStrong ownership mindset from discovery through modernizationBalance of technical depth and business communicationCommitment to improving data quality, reporting usability, and system performance
