Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU) Job Title: Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 am - 7:30 pm) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical experience preferred, telemetry experience required, ICU experience preferred License: Current RN License Certifications: ACLS upon hire or must hold an active BLS card and obtain ACLS within 60 days of hire; CCRN preferred Description: Assesses and reassesses patient needs, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions and care plans. Provides patient care based on established standards, practices, and protocols. Respects each patient as an individual and ensures care fosters dignity and positive self-regard. Provides education to patients and families based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn. Collaboratively plans and prepares patients and families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems. Delegates and supervises nursing interventions completed by other staff. Prioritizes patient care and seeks assistance as needed for emergency interventions. Documents all pertinent data, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely. Provides thorough patient reports to healthcare team members for continuity of care. Promotes learning and development for colleagues and self, functions as a preceptor or trainer. Identifies risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical errors. Recognizes and addresses ethical issues in patient care. Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy per physician's orders and protocols. Assesses patient pain levels upon admission and reassesses as necessary. Monitors and documents effectiveness of pain control measures. Performs timely identification and interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias. Monitors and documents compliance with thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy standards. Demonstrates knowledge and skills related to mechanical ventilation and care of intubated patients. Interprets arterial blood gases and understands implications for patient care. Assists with hemodynamic monitoring and appropriate interventions during recovery phases. Responsible for medication reconciliation documentation for attending physician. Participates actively in daily multi-disciplinary rounds to evaluate patient care. Ensures adherence to protocols and standards in patient care processes.
