Position Overview: The Laser Clad Technician will sets up, program, and operate robotic or CNC laser systems to apply specialized metal coatings to components, improving wear and corrosion resistance. They are responsible for troubleshooting equipment, inspecting parts for quality, and maintaining precise, high-quality standards for industries like oil and gas, aerospace, and manufacturing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities• System Operation: Operate, program, and maintain automated laser cladding machinery, including setting up fixtures and loading part programs. • Process Application: Use metal powder or wire to deposit materials onto parts, ensuring optimal coating thickness and metallurgical bonding. • Quality Control: Inspect parts visually and using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, surface finish, and adherence to technical drawings. • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot laser equipment to ensure consistent, safe operation. • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work orders, material usage, and process parameters (KPIs). • Safety Adherence: Strictly follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area, particularly with regard to high-power laser safety. Required Skills and Qualifications• Technical Experience: Experience with robotic welding, CNC operation, or laser processes (specifically cladding/hardfacing). • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical documents. • Education/Certification: High school diploma, often with certification in welding or related manufacturing technology. • Measurement Tools: Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools. • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and software-related issues. Common Qualifications• Experience: 2-5+ years in related roles. • Work Environment: Primarily in manufacturing, often requiring manual welding capability and high attention to detail.
