Robotics Test EngineerWilmington, MATravel: Up to 10% (Customer Sites)Remote: Not eligiblePosition SummaryThe hands-on System Test Engineer (Contract) to support hardware verification testing of mobile robotic systems and supporting infrastructure. This role focuses on developing and executing structured test procedures, supporting test fixture development, and collecting high-quality engineering data to validate system performance.The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including test, hardware, and software engineering, as well as technicians, to execute design verification activities and support product releases. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong electromechanical aptitude who enjoys working directly with robotics hardware, instrumentation, and integrated systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesExecute structured design verification (DV) and reliability test procedures aligned with system and customer requirements.Assemble, instrument, and bring up test fixtures and validation rigs for electromechanical systems.Support development and improvement of test fixtures and automated validation tools.Author and maintain test procedures, specifications, and documentation in collaboration with engineering teams.Collect, analyze, and document test data, logs, and observations to support validation efforts.Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations; support repeatable and scalable test execution.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware testing for robotics or complex electromechanical systems.Hands-on experience with motors, sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and integrated hardware.Proficiency in scripting or data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar.Familiarity with embedded systems, control theory, and communication protocols (e.g., CANBus, Ethernet).Strong technical communication and documentation skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32, Arduino) and programming in C/C++.Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 and Linux-based robotics environments.Experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or equivalent) for fixture design and integration.Physical & Environmental RequirementsOffice-based role with hands-on lab and hardware interaction.Ability to work with electromechanical systems and test equipment.Up to 10% travel to customer sites as needed.
