What We Need: We are currently seeking energetic, driven, and team-oriented Medical Assistants who have good communication skills, attention to detail, and who focus on high-quality patient care. The job entails compassionately assisting our patients and supporting our providers in order to serve our patients with both exceptional and efficient medical care. A sense of urgency while maintaining calm and collection is an important attribute. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: The duties will be performed in accordance with policy and procedure, the standard of care, and in accordance with state certification. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform and assist nursing procedures under the supervision of an AFC provider Complete full triage and vitals Skill Sets needed at AFC: Triaging, vaccinations, phlebotomy/blood draws, drug screens, set up of EKGs Knowledge of procedures and protocols for occupational medicine and physicals Experience using EMR Ensure up-to-date EMR patient records, and provide instructions as directed by the provider Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required Process messages from patients and front office staff to AFC providers accordingly Maintain clear documentation of all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.) Assisting The Medical Front Office Receptionist with duties such as scheduling and checking in patients and completing insurance verification as needed. In addition to Medical Assistant back office duties, the ideal candidate will be cross trained to work front office as well which includes: Greet and acknowledge patients with a warm and friendly demeanor Provide appropriate forms upon check-in and completing patient registration in EMR Electronically verifying insurance and accurately reviewing the coverage to collect necessary payment due at the time of service Check out patients by collecting, organizing, and scanning medical records into charts as needed and providing copies to the patient Answering calls and resolving needs or directing them to the appropriate department Overseeing incoming emails and faxes to the clinic and taking corrective action to complete each request Responsible for the setup and close-out of the cash drawer Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment including proper disinfecting of the lobby area between patients All other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
