Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead financial operations within a construction environment, with a strong emphasis on Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, TxDOT project compliance, Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, and construction financial management. This role will partner closely with executive leadership to drive financial accuracy, operational performance, compliance, and strategic decision-making across a growing organization.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingLead all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting functions.Oversee and maintain accurate Percentage of Completion (POC) construction accounting methodologies.Manage and review Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and project profitability reporting.Direct month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.Monitor cash flow, working capital, project financing, and liquidity management.Support and manage TxDOT-related bonding requirements and financial obligations.Strategic & Operational PartnershipServe as a financial business partner to executive leadership and operational teams.Deliver actionable financial insights to improve performance, cost management, and profitability.Establish and enhance financial controls, reporting structures, and scalable processes.Support long-term planning and growth initiatives through data-driven decision-making.Systems & Financial AnalyticsUtilize Foundation Software or similar construction ERP platforms to optimize financial operations.Develop financial models, dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting tools.Leverage advanced Excel capabilities including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and reporting automation.Translate financial and operational data into meaningful business recommendations.Tax, Audit & ComplianceOversee federal, state, and local tax planning and compliance activities.Coordinate external audits and maintain adherence to GAAP standards.Ensure compliance with TxDOT financial requirements, insurance, bonding, and regulatory obligations.Maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead and mentor accounting and finance staff across onshore and offshore teams.Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, job costing, and financial process improvement initiatives.Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Master’s degree preferred.CPA or CMA designation preferred.10–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience within the construction industry.5+ years of Controller-level leadership experience.Deep expertise in:Percentage of Completion (POC) AccountingWork in Progress (WIP) AccountingTxDOT compliance and bonding processesConstruction financial operationsExperience leading audits, multi-entity environments, and cross-functional teams.Strong communication skills with the ability to influence business decisions.Hands-on leadership style with strong operational and financial acumen.
