Required Qualifications (ER RN / Emergency Department RN) Minimum 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience; 2 years preferred in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000 visits/year) Active RN license (must be valid for North Carolina or Compact RN licensure) Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS ENPC required within 90 days of hire Strong teamwork mentality, flexibility to float across ED areas, and ability to coach/mentor in real time Professional conduct focused on patient experience and cultural sensitivity Key Responsibilities — Emergency Nursing & Clinical Duties Deliver high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department (ED nurse responsibilities) Manage typical patient ratios of 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds Use Cerner electronic documentation, monitor GE telemetry systems, and work with Baxter infusion pumps Collaborate with techs, unit clerks, physicians, and interdisciplinary ED staff Float to all sections of the ED as needed, maintain patient boards, and ensure clear communication during patient visits Follow hospital policies including dress code (navy/white scrubs), attendance expectations, and tobacco-free campus rules Orientation & Onboarding 4-hour hospital orientation plus an 8-hour floor orientation shift Supportive ED team with mentorship opportunities for travel nurses joining the facility Experience the energy and camaraderie of an Emergency Department celebrated for teamwork and diversity.
