Construction Laborer
Construction Laborers & Multi Skilled CraftspeopleThe Construction Laborer will support a fast-paced production operation building modular trailers from the ground up. You will perform repetitive installation tasks on standardized 8-foot trailers, using basic hand and power tools to complete carpentry and related construction work. After receiving thorough training on assembly processes, you will work independently to meet production goals while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
ResponsibilitiesBuild modular trailers from scratch following established production processes and specifications.
Perform repetitive installation tasks on standardized 8-foot trailers with consistent quality and accuracy.
Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete daily construction tasks.
Carry out basic carpentry work such as measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
Read and follow simple blueprints or layout instructions to ensure correct trailer assembly.
Assist with basic electrical-related tasks as needed, if you have relevant experience.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines in a highly safety-focused environment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in both indoor and outdoor workspaces.
Learn the full trailer assembly process during training and apply it to work independently.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets.
Inspect work for quality and correct any issues before trailers move to the next stage.
Handle BC cabling and other construction-related materials as required by the build process.
Essential SkillsProficiency in using basic hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, tape measures, and wrenches.
Proficiency in using power tools such as drills, saws, and impact drivers in a safe and controlled manner.
Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks including measuring, cutting, fastening, and assembling materials.
Experience in construction, carpentry, framing, or general construction labor.
Ability to read and follow basic blueprints or assembly instructions.
Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong attention to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient after training.
Physical ability to work on your feet, handle tools, and work indoors and outdoors throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & QualificationsOSHA 10 or any formal safety training.
Previous experience as a construction laborer or in a similar hands-on role.
Basic electrical experience is a plus.
Experience with BC cabling is an advantage.
Familiarity with working in a production-style or modular construction environment.
Willingness to learn new skills and processes to support advancement opportunities.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a large construction yard with access to warehouse buildings equipped with 20-foot garage doors that allow trailers to be moved under cover for assembly. You will work both indoors and outdoors, with warehouse doors closed during rain or cold weather and open during warm months, creating an outdoor-like environment in the summer. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with potential for overtime as needed. The company provides the necessary tools and personal protective equipment for daily work in this active, production-oriented construction setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
