Mechanical Engineer II
Position Summary:This position conducts stress analyses on designs of experimental, prototype, or production aircraft mission equipment, and related components to evaluate the ability to withstand stresses imposed during flight or ground operations imposed by static, dynamic, or thermal loads, due to operational or test conditions.Essential Functions:Responsible for entire projects with significant scope and complexityContributes to the department or business unit by applying their advanced knowledge of one or more functional areasAnalyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural material for product design, or operation of productAnalyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modelingStudy preliminary specifications and design requirements to determine strength and bending characteristics of parts, assemblies, and total airframeConsult with design personnel regarding results of analyses and need for additional analysis, test or design modificationsFormulate mathematical models of stress problems or devise other methods of computer analysis or simulation to assist in stress analysisQualificationsJob Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitaskExcellent organization skills with strong attention to detailExcellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative requiredExcellent communication both written and verbalWork independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiativeAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Advanced experience with SolidWorksWorking Knowledge of Femap or other FEA software experience preferredAdvanced knowledge of structural analysis techniquesEducation, Certifications and Experience:BS or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related field4-10 years of professional experience in a stress related field requiredPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
