Through a rigorous PreK-12 program and an asset-based approach, KIPP empowers students to discover their purpose and expand regional opportunities.Job DescriptionInstructional Assistants support certified teachers by facilitating instructional activities, managing classroom behavior, and providing individualized or small-group assistance to students. This role is crucial in creating a positive and effective learning environment, particularly for students who require additional support.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans as directed by the lead teacher.Support students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and mathematics.Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, recess, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students needing additional assistance.Monitor, document, and communicate student behavior and academic progress with teachers, staff, and parents.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.Adhere to all state and federal regulations and district policies and procedures.Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by school and district leaders to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.QualificationsEducation: Associate's degree or at least two years (60 hours) of higher education; or passed the ParaPro Assessment.Licenses: Certified Teaching Assistant (CTA) preferred.Experience: Prior teaching experience in educational settings or working with children preferred.Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.Ongoing participation in professional development activities as required by ADE.Strong knowledge in core academic subjects; proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience teaching in a KIPP or other high-performing charter school environment preferred.Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.Additional InformationInstructional Assistant salaries will be based on individual experience and within the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule.
