Learn more about BMT at www.bmt.org.Key ResponsibilitiesAbout the roleThe Logistics and Procurement Coordinator is responsible for independently managing warehouse shipping and receiving operations while executing day-to-day procurement activities. This role ensures the efficient flow of goods, maintains inventory accuracy, and coordinates purchasing activities to support operational requirements. The position works under the guidance of the Procurement Specialist but is accountable for the execution and coordination of logistics and transactional procurement processes.Work closely with Procurement Specialist to:Shipping, Receiving & Logistics OperationsOversee all inbound and outbound warehouse shipments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentationCoordinate with carriers and freight providers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and resolve transportation issuesInspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders; manage discrepancies, damages, and returnsEnsure all shipping documentation (BOLs, packing slips, etc.) is complete and compliantMonitor shipment status and proactively address delays or service issuesInventory Management & ControlMaintain accurate inventory records within the system and ensure alignment with physical stockLead cycle counts and supports periodic inventory audits, investigating and resolving variancesOptimize inventory flow, storage, and organization within the warehouseIdentify risks related to stock levels and communicate replenishment needsProcurement ExecutionCreate, issue, and manage purchase orders in alignment with operational requirements and inventory levelsCoordinate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and issue resolutionMonitor open orders and follow up on delays, backorders, or discrepanciesMaintain accurate procurement records, pricing, and supplier dataProvide input to the Procurement Specialist on supplier performance (delivery, accuracy, responsiveness)Coordination & Continuous ImprovementAct as the key liaison between warehouse operations, procurement, and suppliers for day-to-day activitiesIdentify and implement process improvements in shipping, receiving, and purchasing workflowsSupport cost control efforts through efficient logistics coordination and purchasing practicesEnsure compliance with internal policies and relevant shipping/regulatory requirementsIn addition to these duties, the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required, from time to time, to achieve the above role purpose.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseEssentialMinimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, and/or procurement coordinationPractical experience in both logistics (shipping/receiving) and procurement (purchase order management)Experience creating and managing purchase orders and coordinating supplier deliveriesStrong understanding of inventory control practices, including cycle counts and discrepancy resolutionProven ability to coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goodsSolid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and accuracy in both physical and system transactionsProficiency with ERP, inventory management, or procurement systemsStrong communication and problem-solving skillsDesirableExperience optimizing logistics or warehouse processesFamiliarity with import/export documentation or customs processesExperience supporting vendor performance tracking or basic supplier analysisExposure to cost control or purchasing efficiency initiativesExperience in a regulated or project-based industry (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure)Education & Professional ExperienceRequired* Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)* Experience working with cross-functional teams (warehouse, operations, procurement, finance)DesirableSupply chain certification (e.g., APICS/CPIM, CSCP, SCMP)Forklift or warehouse equipment certificationAdditional training in inventory management or logistics systemsPhysical Requirements:Essential:* The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
