Since 1902, IKG has maintained its position through a commitment to quality materials, advanced technologies, and exceptional customer service.The Material Handler is responsible for preparing, organizing, loading, unloading, and staging materials for production and shipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role supports manufacturing and shipping operations by handling steel grating products, structural materials, hardware, and accessories while ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control. The Material Handler works closely with production, shipping, and supervisory personnel to maintain workflow and meet operational goals.Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipmentPrepare customer orders for shipment including bundling, tagging, staging, packaging, and securing materialsVerify orders for accuracy and completeness before, during, and after loading activitiesAssemble and package accessories such as clips, nuts, bolts, nosing, and structural components for shipmentTag completed jobs, complete shipping documentation, and submit paperwork to supervisionBundle and load trucks efficiently while maintaining production and quality standardsCut steel strip and angle materials for welding and fabrication operationsOperate saws, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment safely and effectivelyReceive incoming materials, inspect for accuracy, and place materials into inventory or designated storage locationsComplete daily inspections of forklifts, cranes, and other equipment and report equipment issues or malfunctions to supervisionMaintain accurate production, shipping, and inventory records including bills of lading and packing listsEnter data into computer systems and organize shipping and production paperworkMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all timesFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practicesPerform additional duties as assigned by supervisionQualifications and Requirements:High school diploma or GED requiredPrevious manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, or material handling experience preferredAbility to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, technical instructions, and production paperworkBasic math skills and ability to perform measurements and calculations related to production and shipping activitiesExperience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and handle materials throughout the shiftAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial plant environments with moving equipment and varying temperaturesThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed and is not intended to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities.IKG is committed to equal employment opportunity.
