ELA / SS Master Teacher

DescriptionGEO Prep Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school. We are a TAP school!REPORTS TO/TERM:Principal10-month school calendarESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:An ELA/SS Master Teacher is required to perform the following duties:Willing to teach up to 3 class periods of a core subjectUse communication as a tool to build a commitment for and establish a pressing sense of urgency to achieve organizational goalsProvide leadership in facilitating group processes, including consensus building and conflict resolutionMaintain high expectations for all students and staff membersModel school culture by being a regular presence in classroomsLead the implementation of the GEO Prep Academy instructional model; provide ongoing training and development in the implementation of a rotational blended learning modelDevelop an exemplary instructional and academic improvement planContinuously analyze results of assignments, standardized assessments, and other data points in order to develop targeted interventions to ensure the academic success of all studentsLead weekly data team meetings with teachers and instructional support staffRead lesson plans and give feedback weeklyLocate research-based strategies that will support student achievement in the identified areas of need as revealed from a thorough analysis of student and teacher performance data; provide adequate modeling and follow-up to ensure proper implementation of strategiesLead the implementation of the teacher support and development system; including weekly professional learning and data team meetingsClearly articulate benchmark and end-of-year student performance goals for each course; assist teachers in developing individual performance goals and action steps; check progress towards goals at regular intervals; provide training, resources, and support for meeting goals.Conduct classroom evaluations and conferences for both extended classroom visits and weekly walkthroughsCommunicate teacher performance to the principal, highlighting teachers in need of coaching due to insufficient performance; assist the principal in the development of individual growth plans for teachers that have received poor performance ratings and/or student growth resultsCommunicate and collaborate with teachers and school administratorsAttend all required staff meetingsParticipate in staff development opportunitiesWilling to perform other duties when asked by supervisor.RequirementsA master's degree or higher in relevant academic disciplineValid Louisiana Teaching License in Elementary or Secondary EducationAt least 5 years of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluationsFor teachers in TAP schools, exemplary evaluation scores on TAP RubricsExcellent communication skills and understanding of how to facilitate growthStudent data that illustrates the teacher's ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventionsStrong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievementDemonstrated volunteer or community service
